Witnesses Claim That the Story Behind Tiger Woods’s Missing Tooth Is Also Missing the Truth

tigertoothThree weeks into the new year, and notorious American golfer Tiger Woods has already become involved in another confusing situation filled with lies — this time about his front tooth. Or rather, the lack thereof.

On January 19th, Woods had been in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy to watch his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn compete in (and win) another World Cup skiing race. According to Woods’s agent, Mark Steinberg, a cameraman accidentally hit Woods in the face with his camera during the awards ceremony, causing one of Woods’s front teeth to fall out.

Pictures of Woods, sans tooth, starting circulating the internet and virtually became more interesting to social media users than the fact that Vonn had just won her record-breaking 63rd World Cup race.

Oddly enough, however, sources immediately began stating that the camera-to-face accident described by Steinberg wasn’t exactly true. In fact, one source told the Associated Press, the incident hadn’t happened at all.

Nicola Colli, the secretary general of the race’s committee, told reporters that she had escorted Woods and Vonn from the tent where the awards ceremony was held directly to a snowmobile waiting to take the couple away.

“I was among those who escorted [Woods],” Colli stated, “and there was no such incident. When he arrived he asked for more security, and we rounded up police to look after both him and Lindsey.”

Additionally, as the New York Daily News reports, multiple witnesses have stated that Woods was only present after the ceremony had finished. There seem to be no pictures of Woods after the alleged camera attacked his face, and no pictures from the event show any traces of swelling, redness, or bleeding.

Although the actual event leading up to the missing tooth could possibly be quite serious — after all, Woods is no stranger to controversial acts of violence — it just goes to show how much attention is given to our teeth (especially when one is missing).

As for Woods, if his past controversies are any indication, it’s probably only a matter of time before the truth about his missing tooth comes out.
